This
Article is in honour of the 1944 World War II D-Day.
Today
this story came back to me.
You
probably know the story.
Once
upon a time in land far away, there lived a very aged king. The King was nearer
his grave than he was his crown. So aged was this king everyone knew it was
just a matter of weeks, no, days before Papa crossed over to the afterlife.
That
was quite alright.
What,
it would have been quite okay by Everyone.
After
all, the king should be over a Century.
But,
where is the heir?
No,
the Question is...
Why
did this king not have any son alive to take his place?
We
all want to be the best, right?
‘Yeah,
sure…,’ you might be thinking.
Not
the lazy ‘yeah’ kind of answer,
But
the ‘Yes; That is all I have ever dreamed of!’ type.
Granted,
I know there are those who would tell you they do not really care if they are
the best or not. In fact, they do not give a damn about how I, you, or anyone
else perceives their acts.
So,
with that excuse they cover up their fails, cover up their inner struggle, and
cover up their perpetual disappointment in themselves.
But
deep down they feel bad, sad and would really be glad to be the top dog, just
like me, you and everyone else want it, dream of it and strive to be IT.
So,
what if I told you right now to stop striving to be the best?
What
would you do?
Smile
at me, Shake my hands, and Nod in Complete Compliance?
Or
Slap me, Spit on my face, and Stone me in Sheer Contempt?
Hey,
before you decide, you’ve got to check this out!
Hullo,
Friends! The first time I came across the phrase, “Leave Good Behind”, was
around a month or two ago, when MTN used it in one of their adverts. My initial
reaction was “Whaaat!?” What is that
supposed to mean? Are you really telling me to leave good behind; as in, forget
about being good? This is arrant Nonsense. Balderdash… Claptrap… (Please lend
me another big grammar.)
I
understand that if you have your cash you could do virtually anything vis-à-vis
advertising sense and nonsense. And MTN has the cash. I once even heard of one
person who once went to fix his campaign banner on the moon. That most likely might
be a lie – It is so ridiculous and I have never bothered to research about it.
Yeah,
I also once heard that our late king of pop, Michael Jackson, went to celebrate
the naming ceremony of one of his children on the moon. Heard the proud father
apparently found christening children on the planet earth too mainstream. The
story did not end happily though – as far as I was told, the poor kid died up
there, unable to enjoy the whole scenery. I do not believe the story, really,
and did not even bother to research. Yes, lazy me! Scold me already. But I
digress…
Back
to the point: So, I found the phrase against common sense at first. But praise
be to God; I never let nonsense go just like that. Dr Seuss would agree with
that too when he said,
“I like Nonsense; It wakes up the Brain
Cells.”
So,
I decided to look deeper and get the hidden, not-so-readily-obvious message.
Just as the realisation started hitting me, I felt so enlightened – so
enlightened that I decided to share this with you. It has been a while since I
came across that. However the message is as evergreen as it is timeless. Enjoy…
Aloha, Amigos!
Today I shall share my honest view
on a very controversial topic that has been thousands of years ago. It is no
other matter than tithe. I have seen people argue without end about its
validity and effectiveness. That is, there are some who do not want to hear
about it at all while there are others who consider it okay, but just outdated.
Between these two groups are many modified schools of thoughts.
I owe my faithful friends here this
post. I understand some people need somebody who is ready to really give an
objective and practical opinion on this. Many times has it crossed my mind to
share this but there has always been one delay or another. However, I decided
this time that until I share my views on this, I shall not post a single letter
on this blog!
So here we are today as I shall
really be going in-depth and touching (while torching) every dark nook and
cranny. Before we get to the really meaty part, let us first enjoy the basic
delicious tenderloins Are you ready? Let’s do this!
Aloha,
Amigos! How are you doing today? Hope things are clicking fine. Today we shall
be looking at some traits that we should keep to the end, and the reason why we
should. There are some things after all that make us men of honour (By men, I
am referring to both gender), and this things should not be done without.
Before we delve into the discussion proper, let us consider this man.
Once
upon a time, there lived a man who worked as the house-builder of a big company
for years. He was responsible for the construction of any infrastructure the
company might be thinking of embarking on, be it just a Block or a Complex. He
started at the young age of 25 and worked right into the 60s.
One
thing that made the man dear to the company was how diligently he worked. He
always paid attention to details and would not settle for anything less than
perfectly spectacular. He was loved. He was respected. And he was to be missed.
However,
before the company released him, they gave him another project that was to be
his last – A Beautiful home that the company was going to use for special
occasions. This was the last project – after this they would let him go.
Aloha, Amigos!
Been two days, sorry. Hope all has
been well? Seriously, I also hope you are getting enough sleep. The thing got
to me two days ago when I did not sleep through out the night and had to make
up for it yesterday and today. Brain is back to normal now though. So here I
am, Brain Active and Ready, to share this cup with you. Shall we proceed?
*Imitating
Disney’s voice*
Once upon a time in a land faraway,
there lived a poor young boy who wanted to be rich. He was ashamed of his
impoverished generation and wanted a change. Wanted a change soooo bad! But what was he to do? From
whom was he to ask? How could he get there? No question had been harder; No
Interest such aroused.
And as Good Ole’ Fate would have it,
a really grand construction was commenced and the activity for once brightened
up the suburb. There would the young boy spend the day reflecting on that one
thing he had been on for as long as he could remember.
He noticed the Construction Engineer
one day leaning against one shiny beaut
of a car. His father’s bicycle had been broken for ages! Just that it really
was not his father’s – It was passed down for generations and was only used on
special occasions. *Hisses* Impoverished Generation!

Aloha, Amigos!
What rocks? How has the day been going? I want to
believe you are covering breaking more grounds. In case things have not
been going so well, let me ask if you have been working on that idea. Yes, the
one that keeps popping into your head.
Your idea… The One you came up with. You were
perhaps brainstorming and you were conducting this massive research. You
brought in expertise garnered over the decades fine-tune some rough edges, and
created this Original, Innovative Blockbuster that would surely leave people
knocked for six. Or in the Word of Peter Pan, Overgasted and Flabberwhelmed,
lol!
Now, this is the idea anyone would die to have. I
mean, that idea should be worth millions, if not billions, of dollars. But, for
some reasons best known to you, the Million Bucks idea is still sitting on the
shelf. Of course, there are slides of excuses you could shuffle through to
defend the procrastination any day; so there is no reason to feel bad.
And then, there is no rush. After all, it is your
idea. You love to keep things to yourself (Or maybe you don’t, but for some
reason find yourself keeping this special one to yourself). So you relax since
there is no way someone is going to beat you to an idea you originated. It is
just not possible… Or is it not?
I remember the
days of YoLo! You know how someone starts an idea and, before you know it,
Everyone has bought into it. For example, someone started the LoL (Laughing Out
Loud). Now, it is all over the cyber world. I use it here occasionally too.
What is funnier
is that people even use it in real life. Like really? I would speak and you
would say lol, and there was I very certain you were not really laughing out
loud. That is why many criticise the use, claiming it has been adulterated. It
no longer holds much meaning, at least according to them.
Some people even
tried bringing out what is not out of it. Maybe you have got the message
claiming LoL is a devilish attempt to make us start worshipping him, lol!
According to them, Lol means ‘Lucifer Our Lord’. *Laughing*. I countered that
though, trust me, and asked why it could not mean ‘Lord of Lords’ then. That
is, afterall, Godly. So, Amigos, let us lol as much as we want… when right.
Aloha, Amigo! *Smiling* If you've been following this blog this year, you would notice I've started using that as my greetings. Gone are the days of the habitual "hi."
These days, I'm beginning to hate online conversations that start with "hi." The way most of them end as fast as they start is enough to turn the stomach. Plus many are meaningless and usually end with "k!"

Arghhhhhhhhhhhh... Bad habits abound online. Which leads us to the main topic today: How to break bad habits. I've never thought about speaking on this, if not for a friend who needed help on whatsapp. Sorry, he needed help real life and asked for help on Whatsapp. And it is all about leaving a bad habit.
Let's proceed, shall we?
Keep the following in mind while trying to break free:
*1* Bad Habits are Bondages:
No one loves to admit it, but those bad habits we are into actually make us slaves, don't they? You find yourself being pulled by a force you can't explain. A force you find hard to break from, no matter how much you try. That's why they say BREAK away from it. Because leaving this habit is like a whole new advanced season of Prison Break. Read on

A poultry farmer once went to the market to buy a new Cockerel. It was not as if there was no Cock at home; just that the Cock is getting old, therefore could not meet the demands before him. You know… When there are over 200 babes around an Old Man, we can expect a unique kind of suicide.
So, the farmer was there, trying to judge which to pick. The
cockerels around look all the same – Young, Active, and all that. You know; the blood of youth. But, somehow, he was not satisfied. He wanted more and, just then, there was it.

What rocks? How are you feeling? Me; I am suffering from this terrible headache right now – A consequence of not having enough sleep. Serves me right, I know. Mother Nature would always find a way to get back what is hers. To Caesar goes what is Caesar’s…
Today has been great so far, if the ‘heavy-head’ is ignored. Got some calls and few messages from Long-Last-Contacted ‘people o’ mine’. One of the messages was from Mr Kazeem, a brother and an older friend. I have always held the first day I met him in high esteem.
I got to meet Mr Kazeem on business. As you might have known I am an Engineer, among many things, lol. I used to be very active until recently when I started testing some new grounds. Back then, I worked at my Dad’s (He is the Engineer that probably affected us all).
As an Engineer, you are to get component parts to use for your designs, constructions, and repairs. I am talking of real Engineering o – Not those self-proclaimed Baranda people o, lol.
I used to get some of the components at one man’s shop. Kai, the man is talkative! I usually get tired from the irrelevant topics he brings up just to keep my jaws apart. No qualms, I stomached the whole yada-yada and stayed loyal.
However, you know, Shit happens – Fire broke out when someone pouring adhesive gum (flammable) near someone frying Akara Beans Cake (Or so I heard) mistakenly started the inferno!
Long story short, my vendor’s shop was gone (Sadly, I must say. Being Talkative is not enough reason to see your shop razed to the ground). I have never seen the man since then.

I was reading one Vera's Verastic Post today, and I could not but smile, chuckle, then laugh.
This woman wanted to know if it is alright to Cheat on her Husband. Hehehe! Don't gape yet; she has her reasons. Just Check it:
I met my husband when I traveled to Nigeria some years ago. We fell in love and dated via telephone and internet. You know how that goes. We dated this way (and saw each other twice during the relationship) before we finally got married in Abuja in August of 2013. Yes, we have been married for less than a year.
I started filing for him in January of this year, but I’m still waiting to hear from Immigration. You know how long it takes them to do things. About a week after I submitted the application, a guy that I used to know came into my life again. I’ll call him John. I have known John for about 17 years, and we have always had that off and on attraction to each other. We have never dated, never had sex, and never even kissed, but there’s always been that vibe. We have always had each other’s numbers, but our conversations are here and there. We may talk everyday for one month and then no communication for the next 6 months.
Until this recent reconnection, I have never thought too much about John. This time, I cannot stop obsessing over him. I’m constantly thinking about him and getting sexually aroused at the thought of him. We still have never had sex or done anything close to it, but for the first time ever, John and I are actually being verbal about our feelings.
My best friend is the only one who knows what’s going on, and she has advised me not to sleep with John, no matter what. She says that I should not cheat, but that if I must, I should not do it with John. She is convinced that whatever I feel for John right now is only temporary, and I don’t even think she takes my obsession with John seriously. She thinks I only want to sleep with John because my husband isn’t here, but she couldn’t be more wrong.
Because I spend all this time talking to John, it’s making me question my marriage. Did I do the right thing? Did I marry the right person? Did I move too fast? Should I have waited to marry him? What if John is the one? Do I just want him because I have never had him — and it’s taboo to have him now? Ultimately, what I want to know is should I cheat my husband?

{So, Vera Read it, Replied and shared both.}
A bright young
man working as a sales representative of a Big Beverages Company recently got a
Big Project from his Company. Like we all know, Big Project means Bigger Pay
check. So, as you could trust, he walked enthusiastically into the Admin
office. He could not wait. The word is out – The Project is Huge!
The project was
this; Create awareness about our product and make Sales. That simple? No, not
really. If he was asked to Create Awareness in Lagos, that would have been so easy. But just
imagine your company telling you to sell Energy drinks to people in a remote
village, who did not even know there is any other liquid than Water. Now, that
is a Biiiig
Project!
Well, trust our
friend, beaming with Ideas. He accepted the Project gleefully. This is the Dream
Project he had been awaiting. What, he is helping expand the Company’s reach.
That is a huge boost to his name, ego and pocket. *Grinning* Now, his Bank
account could smile at last.
It was only after he started that he
discovered that the people of the Hills (Villagers) do not even understand
English Language. Their writings are more Hieroglyphic than Alphabetic. That
is, They use Symbols in stead of Letters. Here is a Challenge, what would you
do?
Trust our Friend: He came up with ways to
pass on his message – By Employing the Imageries. He used Images to convey his
message, and his Company gave him a round of applause. This would work.
Aloha, Amigos!
I am still
feeling my stomach burning right now. Yes, I am cheerful, bright, optimistic
and all that. However, some things really get to you. Like the heartlessness of
Man – Like the heartlessness of the Killers of Soka. I just looked into the
whole issue and I find it bothering.
In case you
don’t know the story, let me brief you. This den was found out where human
being were captured and taken to. For what? Well, for killing. But why? For
money, mate, for money. Around here, Humans could be money, evil as it is.
You see, Humans
have this whole wealth of Knowledge. The sad part of the story is that
Knowledge could be good or evil. And we all have a portion of each. This is
perfectly normal.
Wait, what was
Adam thinking when he was eating the fruit? We should be clear he does not know
the full implication of the Word, “And you shall know both The Good and The
Evil.”
But then, is
that big enough an excuse to start implementing all you know? Thankfully not.
It is one thing to know, good or bad. It is another to put this knowledge into
action. Some Knowledge were never meant to be implemented by humans.
So, Humans
understand that there are really diabolic means of making fast money, and they
see it necessary and unavoidable. Some would even try to justify it. You see,
nothing can justify killing, cutting and selling the body parts of fellow
humans for money. For anything whatsoever.
It is inhuman.
It is animal, people. How could someone be that heartless? Imagine how the
victims would have begged and begged. It is disheartening thinking about it.
People, the point is nothing could justify evil, ever.
Let No Man Turn Aside, ever so Slightly, From the Broad Path of Honour
on the Plausible Pretence that he is Justified by the Goodness of his ends...
All Good Ends can be Worked out by Good Means.
Anyway, that is
about that. Life goes on… and ends for some. Every single moment.
P.S: Make Sure You subscribe so that you would know whenever I drop a fresh content. Be the first to know!
Sometimes ago
around last year, at one Awards Event like that in South Africa, (You probably still
remember the name. Me, I could not care less, at least for now.) Wizkid’s Azonto video was named as the best video
of the year.
Have you
received an award before? Probably, I guess. We all know how good that thing
feels like. You know, being the centre of Attraction, people giving you
standing ovations. The feeling is kinda FantaFab, indescribable, and Magical.
You love that feeling, don’t you? Awww… You haven’t felt like that before? *Hands you a handkerchief, then sheds a few
Crocodile tears*
But I digress…
Some Nigerian
Artistes actually performed there that day. Wizkid and many others did not get
much heat on! Guys apparently did not feel them much. Only P Square was able to break the Naija-Ice.
Thank God; At least somebody represented.
Aloha, Amigo!
We woke up to a great day today. Somehow I
woke up past 6am. How that happened, well, must be because of how tired I was.
I did not even read the book I was supposed to sleep last night.
I still salute Nature – sometimes you are
gone into the dreamland before you could say Jack. Our Elders say, “Orun ni n gba t’owo Omode” meaning “It
is sleep that takes that which a Child holds on to.” Well, the same can be said
of the Elders too. Are you still here? I trust you.
Getting to work was blissful; being here
has been blissful as well. As ever, we started with prayers (Guess who was to
lead – Your Man, Mate!). Then C.E. came to round things up. It was in the
Round-up that I got the Inspiration for this post.
Excited about my
new discovery, I raced home to inform my siblings. We could get a tattoo with a
pencil! A permanent o, not all those temporary ones. We could write anything we
wanted and flaunt it anywhere. I just learnt it and I was proud to be the messenger.
Needless to say,
my siblings (Mostly made of my cousins and extended family) listened with
interest. I can not remember if we persuaded him or he volunteered, but my
older cousin, Sina, decided to offer his body for practical.
I grabbed a
pencil and started, little devil that I was, and started writing the first
letter. It was not as easy as the hype, so I increased my intensity. I kept
increasing the intensity till it was obvious to us all that what I was doing
was inflicting serious pain.

Yesterday
Tuesday, President Barack Obama of The United States of America was addressing
the G8 heads and delegates in one of their meetings. You probably could guess
what they were discussing: Ukraine’s
Crimea that Russia
would now prefer to call its own. You probably know the story already.
I love Obama, no
doubt. From the days when he started the campaign that first brought him to
office, even long before I knew he was black. Duh, not skin black (Many
continents are) but African black.
I like the fact that
he could address the audience without having to romantically consult sheets
upon sheets of prose ‘skilfully’ written by professionals – Specialists at
writing what is not necessarily what is on the reader’s mind. You and I know a boxful
number of ‘dignitaries’ who can not do without them. Mockery!
But what could
we do? The Lions are being led by some Sheep. *Looks
at the sentence, thinks again, crosses it, and rewrites* The Sheep are
being led by some wolf. And there is little we could do…
But I digress.
So, like I was saying, Obama was addressing the G8. He spoke the way he always
speaks – Oratory. And He said those words that we probably all know, even if
some of us would like to hope against hope that it is not so.
THE WORLD WOULD ALWAYS BE BAD!
…And that is
what we are looking into today.
Then, it turned out that peeps with tribal marks and chronic acne attacks were becoming more open to taking pictures. Why? All could be cleared just by a few drags and clicks! It was unbelievable.
| You mean I could make my hair bow? Like a Rainbow?! |
When the buzz started around here that there was this new technology that could make you look really nicer, I was not really paying attention much. But then, they mentioned that you could actually make a granny long dead wear modern day designers.
And that jolted me from my self-induced sleep! Whaaattt??? You mean I could actually change what someone was wearing? I could literally change wardrobe on the system? Someone must be on a very wrong pill! Or am I wrong?
Sometimes ago, I decided to stay home, to get some work done and to rest.
The decision was to drive some hard lessons home. These lessons are not
exactly new, but the messenger delivered one in a way that really made
me think. And who else could this messenger be, but my young nephew, Testy.
Testy, as you might have learnt from some of my posts, is very playful. When it was time for lunch, he wasn't around. This was unlike Testy, who loves food a lot. But it is understandable; He is with his second love- Play. I had to call him severally before he came, and that was when he dropped the bomb.
Yours,
Raving This Month
